Depending on where in the north country you're getting married, one of these City/Village/Town Clerks may be easier for you to obtain your marriage license. Make sure to check the requirements for the office you wish to visit, as they vary by location (some locations require an appointment, others are walk-in, and others are mail in only).

The standard Marriage License Fee in New York is $40. There is a 24 hour waiting period after issue, and the license is valid for 60 days.

To be eligible for a marriage license you and your partner must meet the following criteria:
+ Both parties must be present during the application
+ Be at least 18 years of age
+ Must know your Social Security number or show your SS Card
+ Both parties must bring certified copies of their birth certificates
+ If applicable, both parties must present original or newly certified divorce degrees of all previous marriage(s)
